Background Streaming Radio for iPhone 3.0
With the launch of iPhone 3.0 there are those of us out there doing our best to find all the features that are not yet known. I have been keeping one to myself for a few weeks and now its time to share it with all.
Apple has announced the ability to do HTTP streaming of video. Little did you know this also includes audio. With this feature added to the iPhone I have figured out how to listen to many of my favorite radio stations in the background. That’s right, background streaming audio!
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to listen to nearly any radio station in the world:
1) Using Safari go to the website http://www.tuned.mobi
2) Select a country.
3) Search for a radio station.
4) If the station has an MP3 stream, tap it.
5) Audio will begin streaming shortly.
6) Now that the audio is playing press the Home button.

Congrats, you have live streaming radio on your iPhone running in the background! If you attempt to open a website in Safari the audio will stop. If you would like to stop the audio yourself, go back into Safari and press the done button in the top right corner.
I hope this works for everyone else as it has on my iPhone. Being able to listen to the radio while using all the other apps I have is an iPhone experience like none other.
Enjoy!

I wonder how easy it is to bookmark radio stations, or launch them from the "home" screen.
